Advanced Ceramics

with John Reinking

Calendar Sep 14, 2026 at 10 am, runs for 12 weeks

Under the guidance of sculptural ceramicist John Reinking, artists will work with refined hand-building and wheel-throwing techniques to deepen their studio practice and expand their creative range. Participants will explore the possibilities of the medium, clarify their artistic direction, and build a cohesive body of work. A rigorous and supportive critique forum encourages meaningful dialogue and fresh perspectives. Weekly readings enrich discussion and inspire thoughtful inquiry, creating a space for sustained growth and creative exploration.

Tuition is all-inclusive and covers the cost of class instruction, use of all studio equipment, glazes, and the firing of your in-class creations.

Clay purchases and tools are not included. To ensure the safety of our kilns during the firing process, clay must be purchased at The Center.

Evening Handbuilding

Calendar Sep 14, 2026 at 6 pm, runs for 12 weeks

Led by ceramics instructor Lori Pearson, students will focus solely on handbuilding techniques. Ideal for beginners and those wanting to improve their skills, the class explores three-dimensional forms, firing, glazing, and surface design with slips, stamps, and carving. For experienced artists, more advanced methods are also introduced.

Tuition is all-inclusive and covers the cost of class instruction, use of all studio equipment, glazes, and the firing of your in-class creations.

Evening Wheel Throwing

Ideal for beginners and those wanting to sharpen their skills, the class covers creating three-dimensional forms, firing, glazing, and surface decoration with slips, stamps, and carving. For experienced artists, more advanced techniques are also introduced.

Morning Watercolor

Enjoy exploring the beautiful world of watercolor. Using still-life subjects and photographs, students learn both basic and advanced watercolor techniques, such as washes, glazing, and edge control, while emphasizing the importance of preserving light in translucent watercolor. Students are encouraged to work at their own pace with guidance from instructor Lena Shiffman.

Students are encouraged to share ideas, experiment with different styles, and try new mediums throughout the course.
