Evening Handbuilding
with Lori Pearson
Led by ceramics instructor Lori Pearson, students will focus solely on handbuilding techniques. Ideal for beginners and those wanting to improve their skills, the class explores three-dimensional forms, firing, glazing, and surface design with slips, stamps, and carving. For experienced artists, more advanced methods are also introduced.
Tuition includes the cost of class instruction, use of all studio equipment, glazes, and the firing of your in-class creations.

Guided by ceramics instructor Lori Pearson, students will work on developing their wheel throwing and handbuilding techniques. Ideal for beginners and those wanting to sharpen their skills, the class covers creating three-dimensional forms, firing, glazing, and surface decoration with slips, stamps, and carving. For experienced artists, more advanced techniques are also introduced.

The Artist's Sketchbook

Sketchbooks are an important artist's tool and wonderful place to express yourself visually. In this class we will combine foundational skills like life-drawing with expressive experiments like collage and paint. Whether you are a sculptor, a painter, or a nature journalist, a sketchbook is a great space to keep ideas and try something new!

Beginner Wheel
with Lori Pearson
Get ready to spin, shape, and create! This beginner-friendly class is the perfect way to dive into the world of clay on the wheel and make beautiful, handmade gifts for yourself or loved ones. Students will start with basic throwing techniques and progress at their own pace, with the instructor providing guidance to support learning and exploration. Students will work with stoneware and fire their creations in an electric kiln to cone 6, making them microwave and dishwasher-safe. With demonstrations, hands-on support, and plenty of encouragement, each session is a chance to experiment, play, and discover the joy of pottery.

Students will work from a mix of sources, including photos, still-life setups, plein-air sketches, and live subjects, while exploring a range of oil painting methods and techniques. Artist and instructor Wes Sherman will guide you through approaches that strengthen your understanding of composition, color, and form while also supporting your personal creative direction.
This class welcomes all experience levels. You are encouraged to bring and use the oil or acrylic painting supplies you already have. A suggested materials list is included below for anyone who would like added guidance.

Tableware with Keiko & Jennifer

This class focuses on tableware sets ranging from drinking vessels to bowls and plates. It is an excellent opportunity to take your throwing/making to another level-learn to create sets and multiples that match. Small batch production techniques, throwing off the hump, using throwing gauges, Japanese tombo, and the Japanese method of making slabs will be taught. Learn to make beautiful slabs without a slab roller!
