The Intentional Painter (Oils)

$360

with Timothy Jahn

Calendar Apr 7, 2026 at 1:30 pm, runs for 10 weeks

Discover the deep satisfaction that comes from painting with purpose, precision, and growing confidence. This course is designed to support you wherever you are in your journey as an oil painter. Whether you have been painting for years or are returning to the easel after some time away, this class offers a clear and thoughtful path toward true mastery. This is not about chasing trends or looking for shortcuts. It is about building the strong foundational skills every great painter relies on. The kind of technical control that allows you to let go, trust yourself, and focus on what really matters: your artistic vision.

The first five weeks focus on the fundamental elements of painting. Through carefully designed exercises, you will train your hand and eye to work together with intention and control. You will develop a stronger command of line, value, edges, and color. These are not abstract ideas. They are practical skills that will strengthen every painting you create moving forward.

In the second half of the course, you will bring everything together as you create a complete academic style painting from start to finish. You will move through the same time honored stages painters have relied on for centuries, beginning with the drawing transfer, continuing into the classical ébauche underpainting, and gradually building toward refined focal points and those deeply satisfying final touches. Along the way, you will receive personalized guidance at every step so you understand not just what to do, but why you are doing it.

This course welcomes adult students at all levels. Whether you're seeking to break through a plateau, correct persistent issues in your work, or simply paint with more intention and less guesswork, you'll find a supportive environment where growth happens through understanding, practice, and individualized feedback.

By the end of ten weeks, you won't just have a finished painting—you'll have a new relationship with your materials, a deeper understanding of the painting process, and the skills to continue growing as an artist for years to come.

The transformation begins with a single intentional brushstroke. Are you ready?
