This is a hands-on, creative environment where exploration and individual artistic growth are encouraged.

Working with Raku
with John Reinking
Students will learn the history, contemporary aspects, and influences of Raku. They will utilize basic hand-building and throwing to create work that will then be fired in our Raku kiln. This hands-on firing technique, in which ceramic pieces are taken out of the kiln, glowing hot, and placed into an oxygen-reduced atmosphere, is one way to achieve vibrant, sparkling colors in raku ware.
Please note: Classes are held at The Center on Wednesdays. Firing will occur in collaboration with The Kiln Yard.
