En Plein Air
with Wes Sherman
As winter fades, there is no better time to step outside and capture the first signs of spring on the canvas. En plein air, a French expression meaning "in the open air," is the practice of painting outdoors to capture nature as it unfolds before you. Each week the class meets at a new location where artist, Wes Sherman, offers guidance, feedback, and insights to support your creative process. You will learn to paint directly from nature, sharpen your observational skills, and explore what it means to be a contemporary landscape painter while fully engaging with your surroundings, your materials, and your own artistic vision.
Students are invited to work in either oil, acrylic or watercolor. Please bring whatever supplies you already have in the medium of your choice.
The first class will take place at Willowwood Arboretum in Chester, NJ. Specific meeting location details will be sent by the instructor via email.
