Beginner & Intermediate Drawing
with Oscar Peterson
Develop your drawing skills through a structured study of observation, proportion, value, and form. This 8 week course is designed for beginning and intermediate students who want to strengthen their technical abilities while exploring a variety of approaches to representational drawing.
During the first four weeks, students will work from photographic references, focusing on composition, measuring techniques, shading, and creating the illusion of depth and volume. The second half of the course will shift to working from a live model, providing the opportunity to study portraiture and clothed figure drawing from direct observation.
Through demonstrations, critiques, and individualized instruction, students will learn to analyze what they see and translate it into confident, accurate drawings. Students are encouraged to work at their own level while building a stronger foundation in observational drawing.

This hands-on firing technique, in which ceramic pieces are taken out of the kiln, glowing hot, and placed into an oxygen-reduced atmosphere, is one way to achieve vibrant, sparkling colors in raku ware.
Please note: Classes are held at The Center on Wednesdays. Firing will occur in collaboration with The Kiln Yard.
