Painting as Inquiry: An Open Studio Workshop (Hybrid)
with Wes Sherman
This open studio workshop welcomes painters of all skill levels and media, including oil, acrylic, watercolor, gouache, and mixed media. It is a friendly space for experimenting, learning, and exploring why painting matters, whether you are a beginner or an experienced artist. Through demonstrations, hands on guidance, and group discussions, we will explore topics such as starting a painting, using color effectively, and developing personal expression. The focus is on growth, clarity, and discovering your unique style, with an emphasis on the creative process rather than judgment. You will engage with techniques and ideas connected to perception, memory, and human experience. Whether you are new to painting or looking to deepen your practice, this workshop invites you to slow down, observe closely, and reconnect with your art. Come ready to create, take risks, and enjoy thoughtful conversations about the role art plays in our lives.

Beginner & Intermediate Drawing
with Oscar Peterson
Develop your drawing skills through a structured study of observation, proportion, value, and form. This 8 week course is designed for beginning and intermediate students who want to strengthen their technical abilities while exploring a variety of approaches to representational drawing.
During the first four weeks, students will work from photographic references, focusing on composition, measuring techniques, shading, and creating the illusion of depth and volume. The second half of the course will shift to working from a live model, providing the opportunity to study portraiture and clothed figure drawing from direct observation.
Through demonstrations, critiques, and individualized instruction, students will learn to analyze what they see and translate it into confident, accurate drawings. Students are encouraged to work at their own level while building a stronger foundation in observational drawing.
