The first five weeks focus on the fundamental elements of painting. Through carefully designed exercises, you will train your hand and eye to work together with intention and control. In the second half of the course, you will bring everything together as you create a complete academic style painting from start to finish. You will move through the same time honored stages painters have relied on for centuries, beginning with the drawing transfer, continuing into the classical ébauche underpainting, and gradually building toward refined focal points and those deeply satisfying final touches. Along the way, you will receive personalized guidance at every step so you understand not just what to do, but why you are doing it.
